The server license for AF is compatible with all components. ISSUE: You never added the ArchestrA License Server to ArchestrA License Manager.

Wonderware Industrial Computers (Industrial PCs) follow the familiar Wonderware licensing model. However, the application of this model has some unique considerations, which are described in this Tech Note. Note: The following information applies to all Panel, OIC, and Box PCs, except where noted otherwise. As always, only one copy of the license is shipped to the customer.

The difference here is that the license is shipped pre-installed on the Industrial Computer, as opposed to being delivered on a disk. When a license is installed from a disk on a regular InTouch node, the original still remains on the disk, thereby providing a backup license. We therefore recommend that you make a backup of the license file and keep it in a safe place. If the license in your Industrial PC has been accidentally deleted and no backup was created, please contact Wonderware Tech Support with the serial number of the unit to obtain a copy of your license. You may also contact your local distributor to request a temporary demo license to use while you obtain a copy of your original license. On most XP computers (which have the Legacy FactorySuite Common Components) the default license path in the Industrial PCs is C: Program Files FactorySuite Common License. On Win 7 computers with ASP common components, the default license path is C: Program Files (x86) Common Files ArchestrA License.

MAC Address Verification License files for Industrial PCs are designed to lock to the MAC address of the primary Network Controller (NIC) in the unit. This means that the wwsuite.lic file is not interchangeable between different units, but is tied to a specific one.

If the license is installed on a unit different from the one it was intended, an error is generated upon attempting to launch InTouch WindowViewer™. A dialog box appears with the message: 'License does not match the address of this computer.' The same error also appears if the network card is replaced. To obtain the MAC address of your unit, launch a DOS session. Then, at the command prompt, enter: IPCONFIG /ALL. As shown in the following figure, this command displays the MAC address(es) of the network adapter(s) in your machine. The MAC addresses are also stamped on the network cards.

Figure 1: IP Config/All/MAC Address(es) Now, to compare the MAC address for which the license was generated, refer to the contents of the license file. Open the file using Notepad. That is the MAC address of the Industrial PC for which the license was created. The MAC address from wwsuite.lic must match the first physicaladdress returned by IPCONFIG /ALL.
