Hi every one i reinstall my Windows 8 and install vmware workstation 9.0.2 but each time i try to activate my shared vm in preferences it says ' workstation cannot connect to workstation server'. I changed port number again with no luck. I try to remove workstation completely and reinstall it again but it not help it. The VMwarehostd services start then stop immediatly. The intresting thing that i found if i move the config.xml from hostd folder service start and working fine but again i cant config shared be cause workstation need that file.
I upload my log from hostd i get this error in my event viewer: The VMware Workstation Server service terminated with the following service-specific error:%% PS: i try to add some vm to shared section but it says workstation server is not available. I created a new virtual machine with VMWare on Windows 7 host to install 14.04 Kubuntu 64-bit guest. I selected install OS later to avoid irritating problems with Easy Install. When I proceed with the install and reach Preparing to install Kubuntu, nothing happens, no progress. Hey guys, i am pretty new to workstation, and would like your help. I tried searching the forums for the answer to this question, but couldn't find it. Its a very straightforward scenario, but i cant figure it out.
This is what I have right now, on vmware workstation Host only network - vmnet 1 (for Internal Servers) - 10.0.0.X Host only network - vmnet 2 (for External Servers) - 20.0.0.X Host only network - vmnet 4 (for Management servers) All the guests are having one nic in each of these three networks. What I want is something like this.
Guest1 (external)---> Vswitch (on vlan 10) [this should be tagged to guest 2 - and the vlan ID(10) should be sent to Guest 2) ----> Guest 2 Simple Enough, i want to setup tagging between the vswitch and guest 2. I cant seem to be able to do it on my VMware Workstation 10. Is there something i need to for tagging to be enabled.
Hi, Here's the basic environment: VMware Workstation: 9.0.2 build-1031769 Host: Windows 8, 64-bit (Build 9200) 6.2.9200, 32668 MB, AMD FX 8350 w/ 8 cores. Guest: Win7Ult SP1 32bit, 1CPU w/ 2 Cores, 3.03GB Scenario: Click on Unity icon in Guest and get the Unity button in host as desired. Click on Unity button in host, click on Programs, If a program has a shortcut in the root level of the Programs menu (e.g. Programs > Internet Explorer) it launches as expected. Click on Unity button in host, click on Programs, If a program has a shortcut in a first folder level of the Programs menu (e.g. Cardcaptor sakura the movie 2 sub indonesia.
Programs > Microsoft Office > Outlook 2010) it launches as expected. Problem: Click on Unity button in host, click on Programs, If a program has a shortcut (or 3rd level folder) in the second folder level of the Programs menu (e.g.
Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office 2010 Tools), the Microsoft Office 2010 Tools folder just displays '(Empty)'. However, in the guest there actually are entries in the Microsoft Office 2010 Tools folder that work (e.g. Microsoft Office 2010 Language Preferences). I will greatly appreciate assistance with this problem. The success of the Unity function is a requirement in this pre-production test environment and will determine whether VMware is chosen for future production environments. Hello, I have a program (CrypTool) installed in my Guest. When CrypTool is started in Unity mode, the Guest automatically exits Unity mode.
Seems like a bug. This (nasty) behaviour is easy to reproduce: 1/ Install CrypTool 1.4.30 in Guest 2/ Enable Unity mode in Guest 3/ Run 'CrypTool' from Applications menu (using Unity) Tested on Vmware wks v10. Please, could you confirm the problem? Any solution? PS: More data: - Host OS: Windows 7 - Guest OS: Windows XP with latest Vmware tools. Hi everyone, I am having an issue that I hope someone can help me with.
I have a host PC that is running Windows 8 Enterprise. I have VMware Workstation 9 installed on this host (version 9.0.2 build 131769). I also have several virtual machines (Windows 7) that run VMware Tools version 9.2.3 build 1031360. On the Windows 8 host, if I turn off UAC completely, all drag and drop operations work fine from guest to host and host to guest.
However, this is not secure, nor is it best practice. Therefore I run UAC at level 2, “notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer (do not dim my desktop)/don’t notify me when I make changes to Windows settings.” Under this UAC scenario, here is what happens: • If I don’t run Workstation 9 as an administrator, I can drag and drop from host to guest just fine. I cannot drag and drop from guest to host (I get a “no” icon at each border between VM and host). • If I run Workstation 9 as an administrator, I can drag and drop from guest to host just fine. I cannot drag and drop from host to the guest (I get a “no” icon when dragging and dropping into the VM). A short recap: • Win 8 host UAC at level 2: • Running Wks. 9 as a non admin – host to guest works; guest to host does not.
